Internal Communications Volunteer:
Purpose of the role:
The Internal Communications Volunteer will support the work of the internal communication team who are passionate about helping to ensure Battersea’s people and systems support the charity’s strategic aims by producing a range of timely and informative internal communications that deliver and embed key organisational messages.
What would I be doing?
The Internal Communications volunteer will support varied aspects of the work of the Internal Comms team, including:
• Making updates to our intranet ‘Pawtal’ (e.g. updating copy on pages, uploading Tealby’s café menu, uploading photos to Pawtal gallery, checking team who’s who are up to date, contacting Pawtal Intranet Champions about out-of-date docs or content).
• Following up with colleagues for photos or content to support the Internal Communications Officer.
• Drafting Happy Tails (animal case studies) and other small stories for the Bulletin to support the Officer.
• Updating the editorial calendar (logging communications updates that go out).
• Saving any content for our End of Year Highlights event in folders (photographs and video content).
• Updating the Bulletin and Manager Update lists on Dot Digital.
What skills and experience would be useful?
• Good organisational and communication skills, have a pro-active and professional approach and work effectively within a team and with internal stakeholders.
• Any experience in working with content management systems (such as Sharepoint intranet like Pawtal).
• Able to demonstrate a good standard of written communication and a good level of IT literacy particularly in Office 365 products including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Experience of communicating clearly.
What skills will I gain?
All volunteers will have an induction with the volunteering team, and then a role related induction with the team they’re joining.
What will this induction entail?
• Introduction to the Internal Comms team, our purpose, and plan.
• Introduction to Internal Comms team processes and procedures.
• Introduction to Pawtal / DotDigital (and our various communication channels).
Where and when would I be volunteering?
• At our London centre - We would like a minimum of 1 day a week for a minimum of 6-months (flexible on chosen weekday).
• This volunteer position will start as 6-month trial, with the potential of becoming a permanent volunteer role.
KEY DATES:
15th July 2024 – Application Deadline.
W/C 22nd July 2024 – Volunteer Interviews (these will be informal interviews, over teams, and will consist of 3 Battersea staff members).
