Why does the Academy Team at Battersea need a volunteer?
Battersea recognises the importance of not only helping the dogs and cats that come through their gates and to support this, in 2018 established the Battersea Academy. The Academy provides a range of e-learning, online and in-person learning opportunities to staff and volunteers at rescues and rehoming centres in the UK and around the world.
As we increase the number of organisations and individuals that we engage with, we require additional support and are now recruiting a volunteer to help the team with database work and administrative tasks.
What would I be doing?
- Inputting information onto our data management system, Learnsmarter.
- Using the internet to research information.
- Other general administrative tasks, such as preparing delegate packs, certificates, shredding etc.
What skills would be useful?
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- Ability to use a computer efficiently.
- Basic experience of working with a database and/or Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new computer packages quickly.
- Able to work to a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to work on your own and use your initiative to solve problems.
What skills will I gain?
- Experience working in a busy, friendly office.
- Development of administrative skills.
- Understanding and experience of Learnsmarter database and Microsoft Office products.
- Experience working in an animal welfare organisation / large charity.
- Ongoing support from the Academy Co-ordinators and Operations Manager.
Where would I be volunteering?
In the Battersea Academy office based at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, 4 Battersea Park Road, SW8 4AA
When will I be volunteering?
- Four hours per week, between the hours of 8:30 – 4pm.
- Monday - Wednesday (Weekdays only).
KEY DATES:
Monday 12th February - Application Deadline.
In-Person Interviews - Monday 19th February & Tuesday 20th February.
Start Date TBC - will likely be the start of March.
