More details

Before applying to be a Battersea Foster Carer please ensure you read through the attached Role Description and Dog Fostering FAQs to make sure this is the right volunteer role for you.

Foster applicants must live within an hour’s journey from of one of our three centres. Below is a rough guide to our catchment areas:
London (SW8 4AA) – London post codes & surrounding areas
Old Windsor (SL4 2JN) – Reading, High Wycombe, Richmond & surrounding areas
Brands Hatch (TN15 7HH) – Maidstone, Tonbridge, Orpington & surrounding areas

Becoming a Dog Foster Carer means you are providing invaluable support in caring for lost, abandoned and unwanted animals by preparing them for their new homes. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience and a chance to make a real difference to a dog who might be struggling in a kennel environment.

All our Foster Carers need to be compassionate, empathetic and adaptable to the needs of the individual animals that come through their care, as they are all unique. You must be willing to provide all the basics of care, such as feeding, cleaning, exercising (dogs), training, playing and socialising, and be willing to follow our guidance and regulations on training and safety.

At Battersea, we are committed to developing and supporting a diverse workplace and inclusive culture in all aspects of our organisation. We aim to ensure that this pledge, reinforced by our values, is embedded in our day-to-day working practices and our work together.

By hearing from and valuing different experiences, perspectives, and contributions, we know we can provide the best expert care for every dog and cat who needs us. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly those from diverse ethnic communities and people with disabilities, who we know are currently underrepresented in our workplace.

We will ask about any adjustments you may need at application and/or interview stage, and if you are offered a role with us, we’ll talk to you about any workplace adjustments you may need to help you perform at your best. If you would like to talk more about this, please contact fosteringinfo@battersea.org.uk or call us on [coordinator phone number].
