Battersea’s Human Resources department provides expert advice, guidance, and support by working in partnership with leaders, managers, teams, and people across the organisation to attract, develop, and support a skilled and highly engaged workforce. Within the Human Resources department sits the Learning and Organisational Development Team that works strategically to build organisational capacity through delivery of our L&OD Strategy. The team is ambitious and innovative and strives to build a culture of learning to empower people to drive their own development. We aim to achieve this by working in partnership with the organisation and by developing solutions that are aligned to our mission and strategy and are a good fit with our culture and people, combining face to face and digital learning experiences, tools, and interventions.

The L&OD Volunteer will support the work of the team who are passionate about culture and people development and are trusted throughout Battersea. They will support varied aspects of the work of the L&OD team including supporting administration, archiving tasks, and supporting digital learning design and delivery work.

What would I be doing?
The L&OD volunteer will support varied aspects of the work of the L&OD team, including:
• supporting the co-ordination and administration of activities managed by L&OD function: this might include scheduling and coordination of L&OD events, Learning Management System (LMS) administration, L&OD Team communications, maintenance of L&OD records, processing applications for external learning events and Apprenticeships, administration of organisational Apprenticeship Levy account, systems & processes to determine the impact of L&OD activity.
• supporting the research, design & delivery of L&OD products or programmes particularly digital learning interventions.
• supporting of L&OD communications, management, and workflow systems.

What skills and experience would be useful?
• Good organisational and communication skills, have a pro-active and professional approach and work effectively within a team and with stakeholders.
• Any experience in a training, learning & development and/or HR role or any prior knowledge of organisational workforce development theory and practice would be useful but not essential.
• Able to demonstrate a good standard of written communication and a good level of IT literacy particularly in Office 365 products including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Experience of using databases in your work, ensuring accurate data input, creating reports, and analysing data.
• Experience of communicating clearly.
• Experience of drafting or developing guidance documents, supporting materials and user guides to support implementation of L&OD interventions and products
• Ability and motivation to work flexibly.

Where and when would I be volunteering?
• Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, London, SW8 4AA.
• We are open and flexible to weekdays (weekdays only), but would be looking for a minimum commitment of 3 hours a week on average.
• We always ask for a minimum 6-month commitment, with the hope of you committing for longer.
